How to start LedgerCommander.exe directly?

Usually you should start Lc from the link in the Windows desktop but what if it does not work and you do not see the error message because the console window closes instantly? You have to go to the folder of LedgerCommander.exe and run it. Where is LedgerCommander.exe? It seems very simple to answer this question because Lc logs the location of the exe file and the database file when you start it.

14:51, Exe: C:\Users\Dr. Heckl István\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\NY8PM6NK.1CW\MBC1BWYV.N1Z\ledg..tion_0000000000000000_0004.0000_d58a026ed0b2c388\LedgerCommander.exe

14:51, Db: C:\Users\Dr. Heckl István\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\Data\14GEHQBE.LO2\QY6RTGB3.CHJ\ledg..tion_0000000000000000_0004.0000_d58a026ed0b2c388\Data\LedgerCommander Db, heckl.mdf

If Lc does not start in the usual way then you do not see this logs. Lc is installed and updated by ClickOnce so there will be several LedgerCommander.exe on your Pc. Go to C:\Users\[Actual user]\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0.

I have two folders there. The Data folder contains the database, so select the other folder. Go down once more and you will see different versions of the program. Check the Date to figure out which is the latest.

Now I have two folders with date "2023. 07. 03.", select the folder which does not contain "none". Now you can run LedgerCommander.exe directly. Start the command prompt by typing cmd in Windows start menu and then type LedgerCommander.exe. Now you may see some messages if there is a problem.

I needed this when LedgerCommander started to use .net10. The error message let me know that on the given Pc there was no .net10 yet. ClickOnce updates LedgerCommander but not its prerequisite. If there is a minor .net change, e.g., from 9.5 to 9.6 then there is no problem, but at a major change, e.g., from 9.6 to 10.0 LedgerCommander does not start. Users can install the latest .net  from https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download.
